Name of the project      : Tottho Apa :Empowering Women Through ICT Towards Digital Bangladesh Project (2nd Phase)

Woman empowerment has been emphasized in Vision-2021 and in the seventh Five-year Plan (2016-2020) of the Government of Bangladesh.Women represent almost half of the population of Bangladesh. Women's participation in economic activities and their empowerment in this respect are among the vital preconditions that can ensure overall sustainable progress of the country. Information technology can play an important role in overall women empowerment. Such empowerment could be greatly accelerated through providing access to information and ensuring IT servicesto the helpless,poor,under privileged or women in the rural areas of Bangladesh. Aiming at women empowerment, a project titled "Tottho Apa: Empowering Women Through ICT Towards Digital Bangladesh Project (2nd phase)" has been undertaken by the Ministry of women and children Affairs. The first phase of the project was successfully implemented in 13 Upazilas by the Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha ( JMS) under the supervision of Ministry of women and Children affairs (MOWCA). Incontinuation of this, a 5-year (2017-2022) project "Tottho Apa: Empowering Women Through ICT Towards Digital Bangladesh Project (2nd phase)" is now being implemented in 490 Upazilas in orderto endure the availability of information technology to grass root women.
